Experiments with photogrammetry

Iv been researching into a modelling technique called photogrammetry. this is a technology that allows you to make 3d models from from photos. by taking 20+ photos of object building etc and putting thoughts photos into a software like autodesk recap360 where it uses your images to build a model.

Here was my first couple of trys sadly the first time all it picked up was a poster in the background as seen below but by the 3rd time i started to get parts of the ship.

by my 5th try it started to get the front of the ship so for my final try i took about 3 times as many photos from different angles and got this.

while its not perfect this was all done in a day and and is a good proof of concept. this was all done with my Nikon coolpix l330 i got for £80 years ago and i used Autodesk 360 to build the model.

i found out about photogrammetry years ago from a video by gamspot on there youtube channel which was part of there video series reality check i believe and have been interested in the tech ever since though i never known you could do it with such cheap tech.
